Smashville Fever & The Stanley Cup
In a city full of country music and honkytonks, Nashville emerged as one of the NHL’s most dedicated fan bases. Throughout the entire Stanley Cup, Nashville was transformed into a sea of navy and yellow. The Predator’s gave their all in these playoffs, and their fans were standing with them.
Rising from the last seed in the Western Conference to eventually winning the Western Conference title, the Predators showed more passion and desire than ever before. After defeating the Chicago Blackhawks and the St. Louis Blues, everyone in Nashville started to understand what this meant. They were advancing to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history. During the Anaheim Ducks series, the fans rallied together like never before. An estimated 50,000 fans flowed into downtown to attend various watch parties. It seemed to be an endless sea of people from Lower Broadway all the way past Bridgestone Arena. These watch parties continued throughout the rest of the Stanley Cup, and grew bigger with each game played. During the away games, in an effort to accommodate the enormous crowds, Bridgestone Arena opened its doors to the fans. The home games were very intense as well. Every fan was standing and cheering on the Preds. Celebrities even joined the festivities as well such as Charles Barkley, Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, and many more. The fans even set a record noise level inside the arena. It was a sound to be heard.
From a completely sold-out season, to becoming Western Conference Champions, to making it to game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Nashville showed they were a force to reckoned with. Congratulations Predators on your success this year and for bringing Smashville together!
